Organic Moringa Powder from Tanzania
Moringa is grown across East Africa for good reason: the leaves are nutrient-dense, the tree tolerates the region's climate well, and dried into powder the crop becomes easy to store and ship almost anywhere. TanzPro Greens grows moringa organically on our Mkuranga farms and processes the leaves into a fine, shelf-stable powder for bulk and private-label buyers. Unlike our fresh produce lines, moringa powder is not a race against the clock, which makes it one of our more flexible export products.

Growing moringa in Tanzania's coastal region
Moringa is grown in Mkuranga District, Coastal Region, on the same clean farmland that supports our Mitaranda Organic Project (2016) and Kisele Organic Project (2018). The tree is well suited to the local climate and grows reliably alongside our other organic crops.
As with the rest of our range, moringa is tended by our contracted farmer network of more than 50 growers, around 70 percent of them rural women trained in organic methods and given a guaranteed market for what they harvest.
Having moringa grown across both the Mitaranda and Kisele projects means leaf harvesting can continue across a wider planting base, which supports more consistent processing volumes than relying on a single plantation would.
Organic growing and leaf harvesting
Trees are managed without synthetic fertilisers or chemical pesticides, relying on crop rotation, green manure and composting to keep soil healthy, and bio-pesticides where pest control is needed. Leaves are hand-picked at the stage that gives the best colour and nutrient content before processing.
This organic standard is what earns our moringa the East African Organic Mark (Kilimohai) and keeps us in line with TOAM, the Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement, across our full product range.
The moringa programme also operates on Fair Trade principles, with contracted farmers paid for leaf they supply against a guaranteed market rather than an open, uncertain buyer relationship. That stability is part of why we can plan processing volumes with more confidence than a purely opportunistic supply chain would allow.
Drying and milling for quality
Once picked, leaves are dried and milled carefully to preserve the green colour and nutrient content that buyers expect from moringa powder, rather than rushed through processing at the expense of quality. Drying conditions are controlled to avoid the dull, brownish result that comes from over-exposure to heat or light.
The finished powder is checked for colour, fineness and moisture before packing, since these are the visible signs of a well-processed batch to most buyers.
This careful approach to drying and milling takes longer than a rushed process would, but it is what keeps colour and nutrient content close to what fresh moringa leaf naturally offers, rather than the faded, dusty powder that lower-quality processing produces.
Packing and export logistics
As a dry, shelf-stable product, moringa powder ships far more easily than our fresh vegetable lines and tolerates longer transit times without quality loss. We pack in bulk formats for wholesale buyers or in private-label packaging for brands that want to sell finished retail units under their own name.
Shipments move from our packhouse via Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam by air, or by sea for larger bulk orders where transit time is less critical, giving buyers flexibility to balance cost against delivery speed.
We confirm packaging format, unit size and labelling with private-label buyers well ahead of the first production run, since these details determine how the powder is milled, weighed and sealed before it leaves our facility.
Markets we supply and why buyers choose TanzPro
Moringa powder ships to the same five markets we serve across our range: Seychelles, Dubai and the UAE, Oman, Russia, and East Africa, with local supply also available. Because it is shelf-stable, moringa reaches distant markets like Russia as easily as nearer ones.
TanzPro Greens has exported from Tanzania since 2014, under Fair Trade principles and a 100 percent GMO-free growing standard, with a trained, contracted farmer base behind every batch. Every tonne we export, moringa included, funds the planting of 50 indigenous trees under our tree-planting programme.
For brands building a moringa product line, that combination of organic growing, careful processing and a shelf-stable finished powder makes us a practical long-term supplier rather than a one-off sourcing option. Buyers can also pair moringa with our roselle powder or herbs and spices range for a broader superfood offering.
Starting a moringa powder order
New buyers typically start with a sample or small trial order to check colour, fineness and packaging before scaling to a bulk or private-label supply contract. This is a lower-risk way to confirm the powder meets your product specification before committing to a larger production run.
For private-label buyers, we can also work through packaging and labelling details during this trial stage, so that moving to a full production order later on does not require re-testing the format from scratch.
