From Tanzanian Soil to Seychelles Tables: TanzPro Greens Begins Exporting to the Seychelles

A milestone years in the making — our first consignments of premium organic produce are now flying from Dar es Salaam to the Seychelles Islands.

By TanzPro Greens

There are moments in a company's journey that you work towards for years, and when they finally arrive, they feel both enormous and completely natural. Watching our team load stacks of TanzPro-branded cartons — packed with premium Tanzanian pineapples and fresh organic ginger — into a refrigerated truck bound for the airport was one of those moments. TanzPro Greens Ltd has officially begun exporting fresh organic produce to the Seychelles, and we could not be prouder to share this news with our community.

Why the Seychelles?

The Seychelles Islands sit roughly 1,000 miles off the East African coast — a stunning archipelago and one of the world's premier tourism destinations. But paradise comes with a practical challenge: with limited arable land, the islands import the vast majority of their fresh fruits and vegetables. For years, hotels, resorts, retailers, and distributors in the Seychelles have sourced produce from as far away as South Africa, Egypt, and Asia.

We looked at that map and saw an obvious opportunity. Tanzania is one of the closest major agricultural producers to the Seychelles. Produce harvested on our farms can be packed, flown, and delivered to the islands while it is still genuinely fresh — not fresh after a week at sea, but fresh as in harvested days ago. Shorter transit means better taste, longer shelf life for our buyers, and less waste across the supply chain.

For TanzPro Greens, this is more than a new market. It is proof of a belief we have held from the beginning: that Tanzanian organic agriculture can compete with — and outperform — established international suppliers on quality, freshness, and reliability.

Leading with our finest: premium pineapples and organic ginger

Our first consignments to the Seychelles feature one of Tanzania's true treasures — premium organic pineapples. Grown in the fertile coastal soils of our farm network, each pineapple is hand-selected, individually tagged with our Premium Pineapples label, and packed with its crown intact in ventilated TanzPro export cartons designed to protect the fruit from farm to final delivery.

Anyone who has tasted a Tanzanian pineapple at peak ripeness knows why we chose to lead with this fruit. The combination of tropical sun, coastal climate, and fully organic cultivation — no synthetic fertilizers, no chemical pesticides — produces fruit with exceptional sweetness, aroma, and texture. It is a product we are genuinely proud to put our name on, and early feedback from the Seychelles market has confirmed what we already knew: this fruit speaks for itself.

Pineapples share this first consignment with another Tanzanian favourite: fresh organic ginger. Grown in the same rich coastal soils and graded and packed to the same export standard, our ginger is prized for its bold aroma and fiery pungency — a high-value crop with strong, growing demand in the Seychelles and across our export markets.

Pineapples and ginger are only the beginning. Our export catalogue for the Seychelles is built around the full range of what our farms produce — sweet peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, watermelons, cabbages, onions, fresh herbs, and more — all grown under the same strict organic standards.

Built on quality control at every step

Exporting fresh produce by air is demanding work, and we have built our operation to meet that standard. Every shipment moves through a complete quality chain: careful harvesting at the right maturity, sorting and grading by trained staff, hygienic packing into purpose-designed cartons, and cold-chain handling right up to the aircraft.

Our export cartons are more than packaging — they are a promise. Every box that leaves our packhouse carries the TanzPro name, the "Product of Tanzania" mark, and a QR code that lets buyers learn more about where their produce comes from. When a chef in Mahé or a retailer in Victoria opens a TanzPro carton, we want them to know exactly who grew their food and how.

We are also fully compliant with the regulatory side of international trade, working closely with the relevant authorities in both Tanzania and the Seychelles to ensure every consignment meets biosecurity and import requirements. Building that trust with institutions and buyers has been just as important as growing great produce.

The people behind every carton

What makes this milestone especially meaningful is who it belongs to. TanzPro Greens is a fair-trade company, and our produce comes from a network of farming projects across Tanzania's coastal region — including our greenhouse and open-field operations in Bagamoyo and our contract farming partnerships in Mkuranga District.

These projects are powered by rural farming communities, with women playing a leading role throughout. When our pineapples land in the Seychelles, the value flows back to the farmers who grew them. Every new export order means more reliable income for smallholder families, more investment in organic farming skills, and more proof that sustainable agriculture can lift communities. That has been our mission for over a decade, and international expansion is how we scale it.

Our packing and logistics team deserves special recognition too. The images from our first Seychelles shipments — cartons stacked high, the team loading the refrigerated truck under the morning sun — capture the energy and pride that goes into this work. Export days at TanzPro are all-hands days, and everyone from the farm to the loading dock owns a piece of this achievement.

What this means for buyers in the Seychelles

If you are a hotel, restaurant, supermarket, distributor, or importer in the Seychelles, here is what TanzPro Greens offers you:

  • Genuine freshness — airfreighted produce with dramatically shorter transit times than sea-freighted alternatives from more distant suppliers.
  • 100% organic quality — grown without synthetic chemicals, non-GMO, and managed under strict quality control from cultivation to packing.
  • Reliable, consistent supply — a diversified farm network that lets us fulfil regular weekly consignments, not just one-off shipments.
  • A true partner, not just a supplier — we work closely with our buyers on volumes, specifications, and packaging, and we stand behind every carton we ship.

We are actively welcoming new partnerships in the Seychelles and are happy to share our product catalogue, pricing, and availability with interested buyers.

The journey ahead

This first chapter with the Seychelles is the beginning of a bigger story. Our vision has always been to put Tanzanian organic produce on tables across the region and beyond — and with each shipment, that vision becomes more real.

To our farmers, our team, our partners, and everyone who has supported TanzPro Greens on this journey: thank you. The best is still growing.
